Stay out of the shadows…
When her stepmother gets a job in London, Mina Grey is sent to Stonebarrow Academy, an exclusive east coast private school, under the care of a mysterious great-aunt she has never met. As she learns to navigate a new school where she doesn’t fit in, she also begins to see things that aren’t there.
Shadows traipse along the floor and crawl up the walls. A young man in a red cape appears out of nowhere, and disappears the same way. Lights blink on and off, seemingly at random, and nobody seems to notice. And eyes follow her everywhere she goes, but maybe that’s to be expected when you’re descended from the founder of the school, a witch who was burned at the stake on school grounds.
In the midst of all this, Mina meets Asher Sterling, a young man with a chip on his shoulder and a troubled history. Yet memories of a shared past—memories that simply cannot be—continue to haunt Mina, for Ash isn’t what he seems.
As it turns out, nothing in this sleepy, little Connecticut town is. Because at Stonebarrow Academy, the shadows are alive, and monsters really do lurk in the dark.
